A Bowen Session

WHAT HAPPENS in a SESSION?

At the first session the therapist takes a case history and makes a treatment plan. This is updated at each session based on evaluation of the effectiveness of the previous session by both the client and the therapist.

The therapist carries out a series of rolling moves at specific locations on the body, usually with the thumbs, applying light pressure, over muscle and connective tissue. Bowen can be carried out through light clothing.

The therapist leaves the room for around 2 minutes between moves to allow the body time to respond.

Each session lasts around 45minutes to an hour. There is guidance provided on what to expect following a session and, sometimes exercises to be done at home.
